Minecraft has gained several types of water content over the course of its updates and sponges are some of the most useful items among these additions. For the first time in the game, sponges made it possible for players to get rid of large amounts of water blocks in one location quickly, which makes them very useful for underwater construction and exploration. Check out how to get sponges and also how to use them in Minecraft, a game available for download on PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and in a mobile version to download on Android and iPhone (iOS) phones.
Can Sponges be made like other items in Minecraft?
Sponges cannot be made like other items. You must find them in Oceanic Monuments, the great temples that are randomly generated in the middle of the ocean. When defeating an Elder Guardian, a large one-eyed aquatic creature that inhabits the temple, the player receives at least one sponge as a reward. The best way to get sponges, however, is to find small “sponge rooms” inside the monuments, usually with openings underneath, that hold large amounts of the block.
To use a sponge, just place it near the water like a regular block. It absorbs all adjacent water blocks up to seven blocks apart. If there are other blocks of water source farther away, they will likely take up the area quickly, but if there is a limited amount, a sponge can suck up all the surrounding water. After absorbing water, the item becomes a wet sponge, which you will have to place in an oven to dry. Once the wet sponge dries, you will be able to reuse it. A tip for drying several sponges quickly is to simply place them in the Nether because that’s where the water evaporates immediately.
